Swimming & Water Sports
If you like to be wet, then Camp Emerson has a lot to offer. Our 2 lakes and a heated pool are busy all day and night. This is the place to try new things – like waterskiing – or feel the thrill of riding into the lake on our zipline.
Swimming In Our Heated Pool
Each camper has an hour of swimming built into the schedule for instruction and free swim. Our goal is to see each camper progress one level during the session. We conduct a full American Red Cross swim program. Special attention is provided to beginners and more advanced swimmers. Our evening pool parties under the lights are a camper favorite.
We have 2 person Sunfish and a 14 foot Daysailor. Instruction starts on land where you learn about the boat, wind, and nautical safety. You’re supervised out on the lake until you’re ready to go on your own. Get ready to ride the wind.
Waterskiing, Kneeboarding & Wakeboarding
Waterskiing is a great sport to learn at camp. For us, it all takes place at Plunkett Lake. We have our own marina and 2 skiboats waiting for you. Personal instruction at your comfort level starts on the dock. Campers learn on both the tow rope and the fixed boom to build confidence. More experienced water-skiers can try the kneeboard, wakeboard, slalom skiing or barefoot. There’s nothing like it.
The Water Trampoline is the hottest way to have fun in the water. Everyone gets a chance to put some serious bounce into the summer.
Good balance and strong upper body control are needed. With practice, anyone can master the windsurfer. Learn the safety, fundamentals and techniques of this sport and then get out on the water to tack, jibe and run.
Canoeing & Kayaking
Enjoy the pleasure of flatwater paddling under your own power on our beautiful private lake. Learn about safety, various strokes and proper paddling technique.
Imagine a zipline where you drop into the middle of the lake! It doesn’t get any better than this. Starting on a custom built platform, the swim staff will show you how to get the most out of your ride. It won’t be long before you’re going faster and getting farther than you thought possible!
