Where do your campers come from?

We have campers from all over the US and the world. The majority come from the northeast coast from Boston to Washington, DC.

How are the bunks assigned?

Bunks are based on grade. We also look at children’s interests, personalities and who’s coming for the first time. Each bunk has approximately 8 campers and 2 counselors. Campers can always request bunkmates.

Can my child stay for the 2nd session if he/she wants?

Yes! Just tell us that you’d like this to happen and we’ll save a space. Many campers decide after just a few days that they want to extend.

How do campers get to camp?

Campers ride buses from Yonkers, NY, Westport, CT, Paramus, NJ and Newton, MA. The bus starts the camp experience and makes separating from home easier. We also coordinate flight travel for our international and out of area families.

What is the phone call policy?

We have a lenient phone policy because our families want to stay connected. You will have 3 scheduled calling days during the session and a few open calling days. For our first time families, we will call you the 2nd day of camp to give you an update on your child. Of course, you can call us anytime. We also have parents on staff to answer your questions throughout the summer.

How does mail and email work?

You’ll be set up with an account to send emails as often as you want to your child. This is a one-way email and campers cannot email back. They will write you twice each week. Email is distributed with regular mail after lunch each day.

Is there a visiting day?

We have a visiting day in each session, on the 2nd Saturday. Our parents can see their children participate in activities, meet the staff and bunkmates. This is a celebration for all – the entire camp, parents, siblings and grandparents.

Tell me about laundry.

Laundry goes out once a week to an outside service and comes back 2 days later. Laundry is included in tuition.

Do campers wear uniforms?

We are a non-uniform camp. Campers can wear whatever they are comfortable in. Labels are not important here. Campers do purchase 2 Camp Emerson t-shirts for intercamp games and trips out of camp.

What if my child gets sick or injured at camp?

We have full-time onsite medical staff including: Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse and a board certified Pediatrician who comes in daily. Most illnesses and minor injuries are treated in our health center. You will be informed if your child requires a prescription, sees the Doctor or goes to the emergency room. The Berkshire Medical Center is 15 minutes away if needed.

How do you dispense medication?

Any camper that requires medication will receive it according to your physician’s orders. We work with KidsMedPacks to package and send the medications to camp. This affords us the safest and most organized way to handle medications of all kinds.

Are there any religious services?

Our camp has no religious affiliation. Campers who wish to can attend services in the area.
