For over 30 years, Camp Emerson has brought children from all over the world to their summer camp in Massachusetts for a cultural exchange experience. Parents state that by surrounding their children with native English speakers, they get more comfortable speaking English than in a classroom in their own country.

On January 14, 2008  Camp Emerson partnered with Astex, a leader in educational consulting in Spain, to send children to Camp Emerson. Since then we have welcomed hundreds of international campers to our 2, 4 or 6 week long summer camp sessions in Hinsdale, MA.

Lucia Lopez of Astex states, "Our main focus is quite clear: we send students all over the world to learn languages. Our partner suppliers are all market leaders and have an established and long-standing reputation in the educational sector."

Astex selects the "Best Camps" for Spanish children to participate in a full schedule of activities in coexistence with American boys and girls of the same age. Camp Emerson is honored to be selected by Astex.

Children from South Korea, Venezuela, Denmark, Greece, France, Sweden and Mexico have journeyed to Camp Emerson over the years.

Sue Lein, owner, states that "parents recognize the benefits of an immersion experience as the best way for children to develop language skills while engaging in all of their favorite activities with peers. In just four weeks of camp, the children as young as eight years old are more confident and fluent in their conversations."

ESL classes are an integral part of the program but they too are focused on interaction with American friends and role playing situations that the children use every day.

The added benefit for this extraordinary summer camp is that international families can take advantage of the weak dollar. "The opportunity to visit America is very affordable. Many parents plan vacations for themselves, business or educational trips while their children are with us," says Lein. "It is a win-win for the entire family."

Camp Emerson has been a leader in the camp industry since 1968. Owned and operated by the Lein family, Camp Emerson is located 3 hours from New York City and Boston. Campers design their own schedules from over 50 traditional camp and unique activities.

"Fun and safety is our number one priority at Camp Emerson, with one supervisor for every two campers," tells Lein.

At Camp Emerson there are places available on the 2, 4 and 6 week summer camp sessions for 2016. Check out our summer camp dates and fees page for more information here
