Since schedules are designed individually, when do bunkmates spend time together?

Since schedules are designed individually, when do bunkmates spend time together?

Bunkmates are together for all meals, evening programs, trips and special event days. Campers are matched in bunks with other children who like to do what they like to do. So if you look at a bunk’s schedule, you’ll see campers picking activities together. The benefit of our program is that kids are not forced to do what other bunkmates want to do. They tell us that they prefer it this way. It also gives them time to meet other campers in same age bunks and not just be with their bunkmates all day.

How is the program different for older campers?

How is the program different for older campers?

As campers move into Upper Camp (grades 7-9) they gain privileges and leadership opportunities. They have later bedtimes and get to hang out as a group after Lower and Middle camp go back to the bunks when evening activity is over. Roses & Settlers (finished 8th grade) and Hillcrests & Explorers (finished 9th grade) go on an overnight trip in the last 2 week session. Hillcrests & Explorers can also become assistant instructors or design an independent study or intensive training program based on their interests and goals for High School.

Will you really pay attention to my child?

Will you really pay attention to my child?

Personal attention to each child’s needs is what sets Camp Emerson apart. Our parents can feel it in how we answer questions and problem solve issues during the summer. The directors spend time talking with parents prior to camp to get to know what’s important to you and your child. Then we collect a lot of information from you to train the counselors and prepare for your child’s success. At camp, our huge staff allows for constant checking in with each camper. We are on top of showers, laundry, medicine, phone calls, birthdays, food preferences, activities and worries. We know that this attention to detail makes the difference in a child feeling cared for and in parents knowing that things are working. Please tell us what we need to know so that we can prepare for a great summer.
